What happens during the singing session?
We always start by preparing our body and mind to sing. No aerobics are involved, but we ensure our body is aligned, relaxed and free from tension before warming up our voices using breathing and vocal exercises.
Then we sing, usually starting with something familiar before tackling a new addition to our repertoire.
Those who feel able are invited to try adding a harmony, and many songs are sung as rounds or in canon form to encourage vocal blending and layering.
There's no expectation to read music; we use lyric sheets or sing short songs from memory.
Our philosophy is "give it a try" - no-one cares if there's a wrong note, but we do care that the experience is fun and uplifting.
